Course Description

Module 1: This module emphasizes the growing prevalence of domestic violence (DV) and intimate partner violence (IPV) allegations on social media and the implications for mental health professionals. Social media platforms have created spaces for victims and survivors to share their experiences while also exposing them to risks like misinformation, victim-blaming, and manipulation. Navigating the complexity of online accusations complicates professional responsibilities and personal boundaries for mental health professionals. In this module, dig deeper into these highly charged conversations while considering how you might or should respond as a mental health professional.

Module 2: This module emphasizes the ethical and professional challenges mental health professionals face when encountering online allegations of DV and IPV. Your response to such situations—whether triggered, angry, or ambivalent—can shape outcomes, impact others (including clients), and influence your role as a professional. This module equips you with strategies to navigate these ethically ambiguous situations while balancing your personal and professional boundaries. By prioritizing trauma-informed care and using evidence-based decision-making, you can respond thoughtfully and effectively while upholding the integrity of your role.
